The First International Interdisciplinary Conference "Images of the Arctic"

Yakutsk, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Russia, December 5, 2018

Dear Colleagues,

On December 5, 2018 the I International Interdisciplinary Conference "Images of the Arctic" will be held at the Federal State Budget Institution of Higher Education "The Arctic State Institute of Culture and Arts" (The Russian Federation, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Yakutsk). The conference is organized within the framework of the International Triennial "The Arctic Chronotope-2018", held from 5 to 10 December 2018.

The purpose of the conference: promotion of images of the Arctic created by residents of the Arctic on its territory. The conference will be a discussion platform for interested communication on the problems of the Arctic self-awareness, civilizational contribution of the Arctic to the modern world view, raising vital issues of all the indigenous peoples of the Arctic and the North.

“Images of the Arctic” is a way to convey the original voice of the Arctic to all state and public structures of the Russian and world community, whom the future of the Arctic depends on.

The main directions of the conference:

• Diversity of images of the Arctic in the cultural space.
• Arctic civil science in the context of economic, technological, resource development of the Arctic and Northern territories.
• Image of the Arctic in the context of the geopolitical picture of the world: tellurocracy and thalassocracy.
• Man of the Arctic: ethnic, spiritual, ecological and economic traditions as factors of sustainability and creation.
• Problems of visualization of the Arctic space by means of folk art, art and design. Creation of image products in the process of the Arctic images visualizing.
• National-cultural mentality of a resident of the Arctic: dialogue and understanding.
• The Arctic frontier of the Russian Federation: discussions on the definition of the borders and territory of the Arctic.
• Contemporary professional art in the Arctic: creative and educational aspects.
• Cultural practices of the development of the Arctic heritage - research, innovative, commercial approaches.
• The role and place of the Territory of Advancing Social and Economic Development "Kangalassy" in the context of the Arctic frontier.

Expansion of the conference topics is possible.

Following the conference, a collection of papers will be published. Materials of the conference will be placed in the national bibliographic database of scientific citation RISC (Russian Science Citation Index - http://elibrary.ru).

Conference working languages: Russian, Yakut, English.

The form of participation in the conference: internal, external, remotely on-line, poster presentation.

For participation in the conference it is necessary to send to the organizing committee by December 1, 2018:

1. Application for participation in the conference

 (please fill in all columns without abbreviations)

2. The text of the article is presented in electronic form.

The article is to be written in Microsoft Office Word editor, font  –TimesNewRoman; the main text - size 14; line spacing 1,5; top and bottom margins - 2 cm; left margin - 3 cm, right margin - 1.5 cm; paragraph indent - 1.25 cm; A4 format, orientation - portrait, no hyphenation, no pagination, no page numbering. Article size - up to 8 pages.

Requirements for the articles:

• UDC in the upper left corner.
• Last name, first name, patronymic of the author (s) in full, city, country in Russian and English (right alignment).
• The title of the article - in capital letters, in bold, in Russian and English (centered).
• After the title of the article is an abstract (in Russian and English).
• Then, keywords (in Russian and English).
• At the end of the article must be given bibliographic references to all the sources (notes) mentioned in the text arranged in accordance with GOST 7.0.5-2008 of “Bibliographic link. General requirements and rules for drafting (National Standard) ". In the text, the reference is marked with an ordinal number in square brackets: [1] or [1, c. 22]. Links are drawn up in continuous numbering in the text.
